Candy molds used to make candy as far back as the ancient Egyptians who made candy to offer their Gods. In medieval Europe sugar was introduced people began making licorice and other candies using candy molds. The Far East introduced Ginger to the modern world, which brought on the making of Gingerbread men. In order to make Gingerbread men Europeans needed a candy mold. In the early 19th century, candy making exploded on a large scale-making rise to sweets as a British specialty. The invention of machinery to make candy in the United States started about the mid 19th century, which developed into large scale of making candy-using molds. Candy bars made up a vast majority of candies from molds in the United Stated.

Candy molds are used to make candies all around the world in the United States are referred to as confectioneries and in the European countries sweets. Candies are divided into two kinds according to the preparation method used because sugar when it is boiled goes through different stages from soft to hard. When candy is soft, it usually is smooth, creamy and easy to chew. When you are making hard candies from a mold, you find that it is more likely to stay firm when it does not crystallize.
